The purpose of these awards is to honor those who have dedicated significant efforts toward increasing access to justice through the law school environment and to inspire similar efforts from others. The intent is to honor those who personally design and manage pro bono programs, those leaders in legal education who promote these programs, and those who personally give of their time and talents in pro bono service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-vivid-cyan-blue-background-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color is-style-wide\">\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>Nominations\u00a0are due August 24.<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\">The\u00a0<strong>Deborah L. Rhode Award<\/strong>\u00a0will be awarded to a\u00a0full-time faculty member or Dean\u00a0who has made an outstanding contribution to increasing pro bono and public service in the law school setting through scholar\u00adship, leadership, or service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\">The\u00a0<strong>Father Robert Drinan Award<\/strong>\u00a0will be presented to a\u00a0professional faculty or staff member\u00a0at a law school who has forwarded the ethic of pro bono service through personal service, program design or management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-vivid-cyan-blue-background-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color is-style-wide\">\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>NOMINATION GUIDANCE<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Nomination deadline is <strong>August 24, 2020<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li><li>Nominations\u00a0of others or oneself may be made by any member of AALS.<ul><li>Re-nomination of persons who have been previously nominated but not selected is encouraged.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>See list below of prior awardees.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Email a nomination letter (no longer than 5 pages) to Kiva Zytnick, Secretary of the\u00a0AALS Section on\u00a0Pro Bono and Public Service Opportunities, at <a href=\"mailto:zytnick@law.edu\">zytnick@law.edu<\/a>.
